(There may even be a more recent edition.) This is a good, readable and informed history of Catholicism. There are other more popular histories, and many that are more scholarly, but this 430-page text is both readable and yet informed by good scholarship. It gives the reader willing to take the time a sense of both the many continuities and the many changes which have characterized the history of our church. Author is a priest and seminary professor of the diocese of Cincinnati.
